Shirley Yan

Shirley is an associate lawyer at Magellan Law Corporation practising primarily in the areas of Real Estate and Wills and Estates law. 

Shirley was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2022. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University in 2021. In the Winter 2021 semester, Shirley was an editor for the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law and she received Dean’s List standing. Shirley was also captain of the Thompson Rivers University Intramural Volleyball and Dodgeball teams.

Prior to joining Magellan, Shirley articled at a regional full-service firm in Downtown Vancouver where she gained experience in multiple practice areas including corporate, commercial, real estate, commercial leasing, wealth preservation, and civil litigation.

Prior to law school, Shirley obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia in 2017 with a major in English Literature and a minor in Commerce. Shirley is also a former registered pharmacy technician having worked in community, and various hospital pharmacies for over 11 years. 

Outside of the office, Shirley enjoys catching up on new Netflix shows and tasting new happy hour menus. Shirley also spends much of her free time practicing figure skating, a hobby she picked up as an adult during Covid-19.
